The map is, as stated by its name, is located on an island in the middle of the sea, with a thunderstorm brewing. Players spawn on a crate floating on the water. The beach is littered with more crates and several wooden boards. Throughout the island, small palm trees are growing, giving the island a tropical feeling. The island has several rock and wooden platforms, and more crates. A large wooden door separates the beach from the inner island while another larger, wooden door blocks the path to the exit zone. At the end is a helipad, in which the flood is designed not to engulf it.
Trivia
The map was initially set on an intermittently cloudy day, contrary to the current version. It was only in a recent update did Flood Island receive a stormy weather, which included the wind effect and lightning flashes.
Flood Island appears in the game's trailer.
Also, Flood Island's OST was used in the game's trailer.
Flood Island, along with Forgotten Tombs and Lost Woods have 3 buttons, as well as the same amount of normal and group buttons.
Because of this, they have the least amount of buttons.
This map is one of the few maps where the lava covers every surface except for the end.
At the end of the map, instead of climbing unto the helipad, players could use the Headspin emote to waste time or troll players. The flood does not harm players unless it touches the head. This got patched, and is no longer possible.
The first button has a blue, metallic cable that is connected to the door, and players can climb on this. This can be used as a shortcut to the second button, however it can be tricky as the cable is thin and consumes a lot of time when not done properly.
There is a shortcut to the third button, where you can wall jump from the two stone pillars to the wooden platform which holds the button.
The No Buttons Challenge was possible in this map. This required glitches and shortcuts. However if a player does this, they will not only die by the time limit, but they will also not earn the XP, as all buttons must be pressed in order to escape.
In a Twitter post[1], it was revealed that this map was once called "Beach" during development.
In one of the Halloween updates, there are now multiple lightning flashes instead of only 2.
The map has yet to be given an updated image after the thunderstorm update. The reason why it hasn't been updated yet is unknown, but it's most likely never going to be implemented to the game.
Flood Island's image is used in the "Lost Page Collector" badge.
If a Rescue Mission is activated on this map, the escapee will be located to the right of the first button, on an upper terrain.
During a Lost Page Map Event, the Lost Page will be found inside a large crate in the area behind the large barricaded door. Players must first press the last button in order access the area.
This Lost Page may be risky to collect, especially in solo because it is isolated from the main path, that it can waste time for the player.
The map's OST is the first Flood Escape 2 OST to be uploaded on Crazyblox's YouTube channel.
Ironically, it has a typo. It has two spaces in between the "OST and the dash" as opposed to just one.
Runic Maze also shares this exact same odd phenomenon.
The flood is set to rise at 12 seconds as water, turn to acid at 40 seconds, and turn to lava at 56 seconds exactly.
This syncs with the music, where it has two beat drops at 40 and 56 seconds respectively.
Flood Island was the only Normal Map that is possible to solo without jumping.
However, it required Chill Mode to pull this off as you'll need to swim in lava for it. But in V60, it was removed and is not possible to solo without jumping anymore.
The map background (aka image) was used in the early days of Flood Escape 2 Map Test (now known as Flood Escape 2 Community Maps.) (when the full screen logs/map loading GUI was a thing). Now in FE2CM, there isnt a background, but instead, a grey as a infill.
