Design

The map takes place in an abandoned workshop, as Santa and his elves have migrated somewhere else. Because of this, the workshop has deteriorated heavily, making it very unstable and some of its platforms have rotten away. Despite this, some of the machinery still works, such as conveyor belts for the forgotten presents. After traversing through the workshop, the player will go outside, which reveals that the workshop is located inside of a mountain called Mt. Evercrest. A blizzard rages on, and an avalanche will occur. The end zone is at the summit, where a star will levitate and shine in the sky, and an aurora borealis can be seen.

Trivia

• Forlorn Christmas was nominated as a map highlight and was added to Flood Escape 2 in December 2023, along with Icy Spires, Snowswept Gully, Irradiating Alpines, and End Of The Line.

• After its highlight period, it was briefly rated as an Insane Map.

• The map has its own OST composed by RFAStudios. The music is also known under it's alternative name, Christmas at its Finest.

• This map has two variants after the 2nd zipline, which are the Star Path and the Target Path. The path will be decided on the symbol that appears on the large doorway while riding the zipline.

• This map did not return in V61, along with Oil Outpost, Skywork Armada, Shroomhaven Temple, and Maltaris Valley. The reason why is because of the map's seasonal theme. [1]

• Due to a high demand, the map was added back to the game for Christmas 2024 as a Seasonal map.

• This was the first highlighted map to use teleporters.

• The FE2 Community Maps version of the map has Custom UI usage, unlike the Flood Escape 2 version during its highlight period.

• This map's development started on August 24, 2023.

• This map is tied with Relic Valley and Interstice Mindscape for the hardest Hard Map in the game.

• In the maps endzone, the player is teleported to an Insane map called Yuletide Haven.

• If a Rescue Mission is activated on this map, the escapee will be located at different places as the escapee's location is caused by Variants. The following possible locations are:

• Behind the 3rd button (Star Path).

• After the 3rd button, on top of an elevated platform right before the moving gift conveyor. To access the escapee, a red button on the floor in front of the platform must be pressed to activate a ladder (Target Path).

• Despite being a former highlight, this map is labelled as a 'Seasonal Map' instead of a 'Community Map', which means that this map is classified as a 'Permanent Map' instead of a 'Permanent Community Map'. This makes the map being the 5th highlight to return as a base-game map after Retro Coast, Snowy Stronghold, Decaying Silo and Active Volcanic Mines.
