The Campfire is the primary focus of the game. At night, it acts as a vital line of defense, keeping threats like the Deer at bay, as it's afraid of the light the Campfire gives off. As you upgrade the Campfire, it expands your playable area by unlocking new parts of the map, making it essential for both survival and progression.
Usage
The Campfire is a constantly depleting fire that is a safe zone for players during nighttime, as it scares off the Deer, the main antagonist of the game. It also lights up nearby surroundings. Level progression happens when fuel is added (Logs, Coal, Fuel Canisters, Biofuel, etc.). However, the Campfire constantly depletes and must be kept lit at all times. There are 6 levels, and completing the 6th level earns you a badge. Each level is harder to complete and requires more materials for each level.
Upon Burning Out
If the Campfire's progression meter reaches 0, the Campfire will go out. Traversing around the map will still be possible, but a burned-out Campfire does not provide a safe zone from the Deer until it is relit with Fuel. The campfire icon will also be removed and the Map (craftable) will no longer be accessible, meaning getting back to the Campfire will become a hard task. If the campfire goes out or is out at night (except day 1), the deer will be hungry.
The Map
The Campfire plays a huge role with the map, as the more you level up the campfire, the more the map will open up. A level 6 campfire opens up all of the map to explore and is by far the longest lasting campfire level. It is also the one least affected by rain. However, despite being the highest level, it still will require a lot of fuel.
Weather
The weather is a constantly changing modifier that can quickly deplete your fire if not checked on. The more levels the campfire has, the less it will be affected by the weather. There are three types of weather:
None - This is the most common weather type and will be the one active at the start of the game. Does not have any effect on the fire burnout rate.
Rainy - This is the second most common weather type. Drastically increases fire burnout rate. Any trees chopped when it is rainy will drop wet logs that cannot be put into the fire. However, wet logs can still be made into biofuel. Be aware that Rain becomes more and more common the further you are, so focusing on the Campfire is crucial during the early game. Rain can only occur after 5 days (without multipliers) into the game.
Rain and thunder - This is the rarest weather type. It is the same as rainy; however, this weather type will occasionally spawn a thundercloud above the player that will strike after a few seconds. Lightning strikes can deal some damage to players, so crafting and placing a lightning rod is recommended. Thunder can only occur after 10 days (without multipliers) into the game.

Tips
After fueling the campfire up to Level 3, it is heavily recommended to use fuel to fuel the campfire and not logs. The logs can be put into the grinder to craft useful items.
If your campfire suddenly goes out at night it is recommended to afk in a cabin ontop of a shelf until the next day, so that you can avoid the hungry deer. Then you can go back to your campfire and collect fuel to relight it.
Building an Oil Drill is essential for fueling up the Campfire up to Level 6. It is also useful if you have a hard time finding any fuel.
If the campfire goes out, besides a message at the top of the screen alerting you that it has gone out, you can't use the map at all.
The campfire is one of the most important aspects of the game since fueling it up to higher levels reveal more of the map.
Being close to the fire heals you.
If the campfire goes out (except day 1), the deer will automatically get hungry.
